Retiring in North Cyprus

Thinking of retiring? North Cyprus “one of the best places in the world”

North Cyprus has been rated one of the top ten places in the world to retire, in a survey by a leading US investment site.
North Cyprus came in at Number Four on the annual retirement index from the financial portal Live and Invest Overseas, beating established favourites such as France and Spain

The group’s experts highlighted three areas where North Cyprus scores as a top retirement destination; low property prices, a great currency exchange rate plus the climate, “year-round sunshine, pristine beaches, and clear-blue waters… everything you could want in a great escape.”

Mountain Village

Live and Invest Overseas examines factors such as the cost of living, climate, healthcare quality, and activities available in popular international locations. They discuss how each destination is adapting to meet the needs of retirees today and into the future.

“Charming”

Countries are rated according to the levels of danger, pollution and any restrictions on foreigners owning local property. The site, which is aimed mainly at an American audience, rates Panama as its Number One retirement spot.

But it also recommends Kyrenia as a safe, welcoming destination. “The tourism capital of North Cyprus with a wealth of spas, casinos and beach resorts is one of the most charming destinations in the region,” it says.

And its report concludes: Northern Cyprus is poised to be Europe’s next big vacation hot spot. English is widely spoken, and it’s easy to do business here. The expat community is large and welcoming; the culture is rich; the crime rates are low… The availability of affordable healthcare and pensions make Northern Cyprus a great place to retire.

“The kicker, though, is the unbelievably low-priced property investment opportunities to be had. New apartments in modern complexes with amenities cost about US$70,000.”
